About a week ago for the first time, I submitted my body to try aerial yoga. I have to admit I was pretty intimidated to try it at first. I just kept thinking, I’m going to spin out of control and fall on my face or I won’t be strong enough to do anything. I’m not a novice or a weakling by any means. I do pole fitness at an intermediate level so I like to think I have some strength! I’m going to show you why you should try Ariel Yoga.
1. The class sizes are small.
The warm-up is like a normal yoga class, with the exception that a few of the stretches are done using the silks. We did a lot of balance work and even got to hang upside down for a few moves. My favorite part was at the end when you just relax and hang out in the hammock. The instructor gives you reflections and some pretty deep thoughts to think about to become a better person.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience, it wasn’t overly difficult or scary. I definitely would try it again. It had the perfect amount of challenge and as with most workouts I’ve done, it’s all about listening to your own body and knowing how far you can push it. So if you’ve ever thought about maybe trying aerial yoga, DO IT!! Trust me, it’s so much fun and different way to do yoga. I suggest looking for classes where you live. If you live in the Fargo/Moorhead area Zero Gravity Alternative Fitness offers aerial yoga (along with pole classes you should totally do too!) weekly.
I know Amazon has some options where you can do your own Aerial Yoga at home. But be aware that you’ll want to make sure you set everything up correctly if you’re doing it at home. Also, make sure you are learning the right moves and techniques so you don’t injure yourself.
Let me know if you’ve tried Aerial Yoga and what your experience of it was.
